Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat) : : Male : : Young
Radar was born in Pensacola, Florida to a feral mom in someone’s backyard. He, along with 2 of his possible siblings, his mom and another feral female were trapped in June of 2018. The 2 adult females were spayed and received their rabies and shots via a TNR program, then released back in their yard to live out their feral lives being cared for and loved (from afar) by their caregiver. Radar and his 2 siblings were taken into foster care via Animal Allies. We believe Radar was around 10 weeks old at this time, but he’s grown at such a rate that he’s much bigger than his possible siblings. He might have a different mom, or even be from a previous litter. He had no human interaction by this time. Radar enjoys playing with the other kittens in his foster home, has interest in the adult cats, hasn’t been around young children, and only briefly has been around dogs (at his first foster home and in passing at the vet’s office). His initial foster family already had younger kittens, and Radar quickly adapted to interaction with the other kittens and more slowly, people. He and the other kittens came to our house about a month later and quickly adapted to our routine and environment. Radar’s right eye appears to have lack of vision. We believe it might be an injury during birth or when he was a tiny kitten living in the outdoors. Either way, it does not hold him back! Actually, it adds to his uniqueness and lovability!! Radar’s meow/speech is also endearing. It’s far from a roar, but more like a little grumbling mousie squeak. Radar loves to play with the other kittens and especially toys. Some of his favorites are the balls that are in the tracks and little mice! Since Radar spent his first weeks of life in a feral environment without human interaction, he can take a fair amount of time to warm up, and often cowers (or runs) if approached too quickly. We do pick him up, and Radar basically goes limp. We affectionately call him Noodle! Over time, he is warming up more and more to us, and believe he’ll be a wonderful family member! He does like reaching out to humans as we walk by, and shows a lot of interest in wanting to interact with us. He purrs when we do pet him. Radar has never hissed or scratched at us, like many feral kittens, but it’s taking time for him to come to us directly. He loves feeding times, and he can easily be pet at these times. He also loves interactive play, and allows us to pet him (and he purrs!!). Radar also loves to sit in the windows (often with his foster buddy Nelson ), and cat nap between watching the world go by. Adoption fee is $75.00 which includes up-to-date shots, FeLV test (negative) and neuter surgery that is already done. He is litterbox trained.
